CONSTANTS

Its half past midnight , and there he is browsing through old photographs reminiscing  in the glory of the has beens . One photograph stood out , it was with her . Yes , Rachael the one who stole his heart , he stares at that photograph for a while then searches for something in the bookshelf. He shuffles around a couple of books and slides his hand behind them , and takes out a pack , its a pack of cigarettes . He was a slave of the forbidden habit , long before Rachael came along . He lit up a cigg and called up Elena , his constant , his best friend , Elena doesn't pick up , he thinks she might have slept hence he didn't call again and threw his phone across the bed in a fit of disappointment .He resumes surfing through the photographs , after a while the phone buzzes , he was on his fourth cigg by now , he lazily reaches his phone and sees Elena's name . He puts off the cigg and pick up her call , starts storming her with questions of her whereabouts , Elena calmly explains that she was watching some TV show and her phone was on charging . He calms down after listening to her explanation and then starts discussing about the football match tomorrow , Elena realizes that he was not telling her the reason of the call , so she directly asked what happened , he took a long pause and starts pouring his heart out about the break up , Rachael had dumped him yesterday . Elena calmly listens and tells him its not the end of the world . The conversation went on for four hours, at dawn they decided to pause it .
And today eleven years later , he still calls her when the world's a bit darker and she still answers with the same calmness . She was his constant and he was hers .

THE TAX OF HAPPINESS

Happiness a wonderful drug which we are addicted to since birth . At first , life just throws happiness at you , luring you in , getting you addicted and just when you think that yes , i have reached a state of inner peace , life starts asking for tax .  Is the feeling of happiness enough to pay the tax ? what is the tax ? Well, its basically anything that makes you unhappy , from minor inconveniences to major fall throughs ,  All falls in the theory of yin and yang , the balance of life  . Without us realizing  it  life does balance it out . Each moment of happiness is equalized with each moment of pain , so we are kept neutralized .  Maybe life doesn't want anyone to be completely happy . What is complete happiness ? a brief moment which passes by in the blink of an eye. How many times can you handle the balance of life ?how many times can you pay the tax , till you decide not to smile at all?

RUN

I was running I looked around , it was a dimly lit street with sparse traffic I had my earphones on , so i was in my own universe I kept on running , for miles it seemed I am not an athletic person , but something was different today It felt like i was running from something , but couldn't tell what exactly it was Was i running from decisions ? ambition ? love ? commitment ?  With each leap i took I felt the communication with my soul was closing But i didn't stop I wanted to leave my soul behind And run far away My life flashed before me the first day of college , his smile , our first date And then our ridiculous fights , the break up night Suddenly a white light shined over me .. and something hit me i was on the road and then there was complete darkness.... I could feel my body come to absolute rest with excruciating pain......

A GLANCE

She walks by , and his heart skips a beat Her boyfriend comes along , and  the heartache returns  again Then in class, their eyes meet , She saw right through his eyes , his love , his pain At night , she was entangled in her thoughts He was only thinking of her dark purple eyes They didn't know they were bonded Days passed , Conversations started with a simple gesture The day came , When he standing in a black tuxedo And she was in Pearl white silhouette And again there eyes met It was meant to be ! They knew it And all it took was a glance .
