THE WALK

VICKY: A rich brat , self loathing , recently lost her mother and is now trying to find her conscience.

BETTY: An honest  taxi driver with a subtle calmness in her personality .

It was 3:11 AM, when Vicky was awaken by one of her recurring nightmares. It was the same as always she used to see her mother smiling and dancing and as soon as she called out "MOM!" , her mom would collapse and turn cold . Vicky had everything in this rich world - a big empty house, a distant father, all the cash, a room full of jewels , an addiction of cigarettes and alcohol and  a loving mother, correction had a loving mother. Vicky and her family were first generation rich , meaning her father worked his ass of to get this luxury , and that meant her mom was all alone most of the time . So Vicky and her mom were very close , her mom was probably the only reason why she stayed home and didn't runaway .
With  all these thoughts mushed in her head , she realized she won't be getting any sleep any more , so she decided to go take a walk it might help to clear her head.
Slowly she picked herself off the bed and slapped on a light hoodie to avoid the chills of the night . She left the house and immediately put her headphones in, her hood up and head down. She started her walk but had no destination in mind . She walked around for what seemed like an hour and found herself in a part of the town which was unfamiliar to her , which was surprising cause she practically lived there all her life, not much was unfamiliar to her. But she was not alarmed or anxious , she was actually quite comfortable in that area. The place was covered with big tall trees and there was one dimly lit road passing through ,with moderate sized Victorian houses on either side of the road . After walking for what felt like another half an hour , Vicky grew tired and decided it was time to go back home . The only problem was that she had no clue how she ended up here.
Down the road she spots headlights , after a moment she realizes they were coming towards he . And as it came closer she saw a dimly lit 'TAXI' sign over the head of the car and she let out a sigh of relief. She waved her arm hoping the taxi was empty and would give her a ride. And thankfully it did halt and as she bent down to ask the driver for a drop , she saw it was driven by a middle- aged woman , with black or maybe dark brown hair , her face looked old probably much older than she actually was , but she had a warm welcoming smile . Her whole vibe was very welcoming hence Vicky didn't hesitate to enter the car. After a few silent moments , the woman whose name was Betty , which Vicky spotted on the license stuck of the dashbboard , asked Vicky some personal question about her life , her family , her college etc.... And Vicky didn't mind answering at all , Vicky craved these kind of conversations , As the big empty house with picturesque walls and a group of empty , shallow friends didn't give her much to connect with . So Betty kept on asking questions and Vicky kept on answering them .
Then an awkward silence filled the car , a long monotonous road with no light except the car's began.
To break this silence , Betty came up with an unusual solution . She explained as it is quite late in the night , and  the road was  monotonous , that they could play a game . Vicky agreed , cause it was quite late and she didn't want Betty to get drowsy and lose control. The game was as Betty explained , Betty was going to narrate a story and at the end of the story she was going to ask Vicky a question if Vicky correctly answers she would be rewarded. Vicky agreed . Betty began narrating a story , "Once upon a time......................................................................."
The story finished just as they reached Vicky's house. Betty asked Vicky a question and she answered after a while . Betty announced ,a little shook ,that Vicky did give a right answer. The little girl inside Vicky came out then curiously asked for her reward and also after a moment asked for the fare too. Betty said that she would give the reward after she gets the fare. Vicky starts searching for her purse and realizes she left it inside . She asks Betty to wait as she will go and get the purse . She ran to her door , opened it and found some lose change and a couple of hundreds on the foyer shelf itself. In excitement to see her reward she runs back to the gate , only to find no one is there . But after a moment she glances on the ground and finds an envelope . A chill runs down her spine , But she gathers up her courage and picks up the envelop and opens it . It contained a note inside stating that " Your reward is..............."
She could't read it anymore , she was terrified of what was written , she runs home locks the doors . As soon as she locked the door , she heard a car honking . Slowly she peeped outside from the window beside the door and she saw the Taxi is back .

THE TAX OF HAPPINESS

Happiness a wonderful drug which we are addicted to since birth . At first , life just throws happiness at you , luring you in , getting you addicted and just when you think that yes , i have reached a state of inner peace , life starts asking for tax .  Is the feeling of happiness enough to pay the tax ? what is the tax ? Well, its basically anything that makes you unhappy , from minor inconveniences to major fall throughs ,  All falls in the theory of yin and yang , the balance of life  . Without us realizing  it  life does balance it out . Each moment of happiness is equalized with each moment of pain , so we are kept neutralized .  Maybe life doesn't want anyone to be completely happy . What is complete happiness ? a brief moment which passes by in the blink of an eye. How many times can you handle the balance of life ?how many times can you pay the tax , till you decide not to smile at all?

RUN

I was running I looked around , it was a dimly lit street with sparse traffic I had my earphones on , so i was in my own universe I kept on running , for miles it seemed I am not an athletic person , but something was different today It felt like i was running from something , but couldn't tell what exactly it was Was i running from decisions ? ambition ? love ? commitment ?  With each leap i took I felt the communication with my soul was closing But i didn't stop I wanted to leave my soul behind And run far away My life flashed before me the first day of college , his smile , our first date And then our ridiculous fights , the break up night Suddenly a white light shined over me .. and something hit me i was on the road and then there was complete darkness.... I could feel my body come to absolute rest with excruciating pain......

A GLANCE

She walks by , and his heart skips a beat Her boyfriend comes along , and  the heartache returns  again Then in class, their eyes meet , She saw right through his eyes , his love , his pain At night , she was entangled in her thoughts He was only thinking of her dark purple eyes They didn't know they were bonded Days passed , Conversations started with a simple gesture The day came , When he standing in a black tuxedo And she was in Pearl white silhouette And again there eyes met It was meant to be ! They knew it And all it took was a glance .
